Geez… this is the 2nd top post in this blog. So many have dropped by to squeeze some free brain-juice from here but didn’t even leave a note of thanks or comment. At least let me know whether what I wrote here made any sense to you people… PLEASE. I would truly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. ![]()
The Return to Innocence
That’s not the beginning of the end
That’s the return to yourself
The return to innocence
Love – Devotion
Feeling – Emotion
Love – Devotion
Feeling – Emotion
Don’t be afraid to be weak
Don’t be too proud to be strong
Just look into your heart my friend
That will be the return to yourself
The return to innocence
If you want, then start to laugh
If you must, then start to cry
Be yourself don’t hide
Just believe in destiny
Don’t care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don’t give up and use the chance
To return to innocence
That’s not the beginning of the end
That’s the return to yourself
The return to innocence
Don’t care what people say
Follow just your own way Follow just your own way
Don’t give up, don’t give up
To return, to return to innocence.
If you want then laugh
If you must then cry
Be yourself don’t hide
Just believe in destiny.
I wonder…. how many of us can do that? Is there anymore innocence in this world? Why must we hide in a masquarade of pretence to satisfy the masses? Where IS this innocence?? Since someone searched for the MEANING of this song, I shall pen down my 2-cents interpretation of it here.
Firstly, what is ‘innocence’ in the context of this song? To me, it refers to the original state of mind when a person is born – true, uncorrupted, with pure emotions unblemished by pretence or conditioning by society.
Innocence in action and innocence in thought or emotion – original and unplanned. This is innocence. That is why you laugh when you want and cry when you must without fear of being judged, without conscious control governed by societal expectations.
The song is about being true to yourself, about how you really feel and want irregardless of what people say or think. By doing so, you would find true happiness because that is what you’re meant to do.
Sometimes, honesty with yourself can be the hardest thing to do!
makes a lot of sense. Jeez, who woulda thunk we are all looking for so much meaning?
I agree–innocence is our pure state. Where we came from and where we will return. The heart is the keeper of the key.
I recently re-discovered this song – again in the beginning of 2009. I heard it being played at a dinner theater and while everyone was enjoying their main course, I heard to words and also pondered its meaning once again. I too believe this song refers to the most simplest and most beautiful meaning of innocence as when we were born. I think the melody in the music supports this with its soothing and trance like beat reminding us of a simpler time. The challenge is to live life again as honest to ourselves and others as when we were young.

Sacrifice my time, energy, responsibility & commitment.
Self sincerity by doing something without thinking on returns.
Face the truth of life…every second/day/night….
honesty!!
…..am I truthful enough to myself..? Happiness??….
Still wondering…
